Q.How can I preserve my carved pumpkin?
A.I have found the best way to preserve my carved pumpkins is to put vasaline - petroleum jelly onto the cut areas, this seals the moisture in. The wrap it in cling film when not on show and keep it in a cool place, if you only have one then the fridge is great. After a few days the picture will start to look a bit sad and tired so plunge the whole pumpkin in water and leave for a couple of hours, take the pumpkin out and dry it completely inside and outside ( it will get mouldy very quickly if not dried) this process revives the pumpkin as it absorbs the water like a sponge. You can only do this once really before the pumpkin goes soggy.
